James 1: From Trouble to Triumph

This entry is part 1 of 10 in the series James

Did you know it’s actually possible to face hardship with great expectations of reward? This is certainly what James advocates:

Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials. James 1:2

How is this possible? Wouldn’t it be great to face life with this kind of upbeat vision? James focuses the life of this brand, new Christian church on the triumph of the Christian life. What a contrast it is with our normal way of dealing with life, which is like someone tossed around by conflicting circumstances…

…the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord, being a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. James 1:6-8
