This entry is part 14 of 22 in the series 1 Corinthians

Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her,” the Bible says (Eph. 5:25). This is no institution, it’s not a building. It’s a place where God is at work in a most profound way honoring us with amazing spiritual capabilities: new abilities, new activities and “various expressions of power” (1 Cor.12:4-7).To discover and use this spiritual capacity can be one of the most fulfilling aspects of Christian fellowship. Until we do, the re is a restlessness in the heart. Paul describes in detail this Spirit-empowered potential so we can find our calling in life.
